So, who am I?

I am Kevin Harrison, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and board-certified Clinical Sleep Health specialist. While my home base is in Pilot Mountain, I provide expertise to people across North Carolina who are ready to get their lives back on track. My approach is built on a seasoned, real-world perspective that you won’t find in a textbook. Having worked across a wide range of industries and environments, I have a practical understanding of how people actually tick and what they need to thrive. I’ve learned that rest is the foundation for everything else. Sleep isn't just a symptom to manage. It is the most powerful lever we have for changing how you feel and function every single day.

Sleep is one of those things where the right approach can change almost everything downstream. Mood, attention, chronic pain, relationships, and clinical outcomes across most of the conditions people struggle with: sleep is almost always part of the picture. That realization is what pulled me toward Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and it is still what gets me to show up ready every session.

The Clinician Side

I specialize in Behavioral Sleep Medicine, the non-pharmacological standard of care for insomnia and related sleep concerns. My work is evidence-based, structured, and intentionally jargon-free. If you leave a session not knowing exactly what we are working on and why, I have not done my job.

Every approach I use, whether that is CBT-I, Imagery Rehearsal Therapy, circadian rhythm therapy, ACT for Insomnia, or pediatric behavioral sleep methods, follows the same underlying logic. Find what is actually maintaining the problem. Target it directly. Build something that lasts. Most people complete a full course of care in 4 to 8 sessions, not months of open-ended work.

"My job is to give you the clearest possible picture of what is going on with your sleep, give you the tools to change it, and then get out of your way so you can go live your life." — Kevin Harrison, almost certainly while finishing a hot cup of coffee

The Human Side

I grew up in Georgia, met my wife in college, and followed her and a gut feeling to North Carolina after graduation. And then, somehow, Pilot Mountain just happened, and it became home. The kind of place that earns that word rather than just inheriting it.

When I am not in session, you will find me on a pickleball court, probably more competitive than the situation calls for. The rest of my time belongs to my wife, our three kids, and our dog Theo. It is a full house, and I would not have it any other way.

I have also lived through some genuinely hard seasons. What got me through was not having it together. It was having people who showed up anyway. The kind of support and forgiveness that you do not feel like you deserve but receive regardless. That experience is not background noise to my clinical work. It is the reason I do it.

Fast Facts

🌙

I have spent more time thinking about sleep than most people spend sleeping. Make of that what you will.

🏓

Pickleball enthusiast. Competitive in a way that is mostly endearing and only occasionally embarrassing.

🏡

Husband, dad of three, and co-owner of Theo, a dog with strong convictions and zero interest in compromise.

🗺️

Georgia raised, North Carolina rooted. Pilot Mountain still gets me on a clear day, and I have lived here long enough that it should not.

Two Hats, One Practice

Alongside my clinical work at Harrison Therapy, I provide AAMFT-model clinical supervision for licensed associate marriage and family therapists working toward independent licensure. Supervision is a serious responsibility, and one I take as carefully as I take my clinical work.
